Tips for cleaning a rental property

To avoid cleaning charges, it would be in your best interest to ensure that the following items are attended to before vacating the property.

Outdoors and general cleaning

Windows, window sills and flyscreens to be properly cleaned.
Windows to be washed inside and out, and to be free from streaks and smears. Window tracks, architraves and skirting boards to be left free from dirt and insects;
Walls must be washed to remove any marks;
Curtains to be washed, ironed or dry cleaned and rehung;
Venetian &/or Vertical blinds to be properly cleaned and dusted;
Ceiling fans to be washed and dust free;
Doors and door frames to be left clean;
Light fittings, power points and switches to be cleaned;
Floors: vinyl tiles, parquetry, polished floors and tiled areas to be washed and polished (where applicable). Carpets must be professionally steamed cleaned;
All personal property to be removed;
All rubbish to be removed;
Marks or oil on concrete to be removed (garage, paths, driveway etc);
Outside house area to be washed down to remove dust and spiders;
Lawns and gardens to be mowed and/or weeded and tidied as close to your vacate day;
Damage done to the premises by the tenant must be repaired at your expense. DO NOT PATCH/PAINT ANY REPAIRS TO WALLS ETC WITHOUT CONTACTING THE OFFICE.
Garage bins to be emptied, washed and returned to the allocated place; PLEASE NOTE:Garage bins are NOT to be left for the next normal collection day – should they not be emptied on vacating day there will be a $60.00 charge to have them taken to the tip to be emptied and then cleaned.

Kitchen

Stove to be thoroughly cleaned, including hot plates wells and surrounds, griller & trays, oven racks, sides rear, floor and walls. Some upright stoves may need to be pulled away from the wall to enable sides and walls behind to be clean. TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE THE FLOORS
Exhaust fans and rangehoods to be cleaned and grease free;
Kitchen cupboards to be thoroughly cleaned inside and out (including fronts of doors & drawers) and any sticky marks are to be removed;
Tiles and benchtops to be thoroughly cleaned and free of grease;
Sink and disposal unit (if applicable) to be cleaned including drains.
Dishwashers strainers and soap holders to be cleaned out as well as along the bottom & sides of the dishwasher door.

Bathroom

All mould to be removed from tiles, walls, ceiling or other surfaces;
Vanity and basin to be cleaned inside and out, including drains;
Bath & toilet to be cleaned thoroughly;
Shower recess and shower glass to be thoroughly cleaned to remove any residue and mould.

Laundry

Tubs and cabinet to be cleaned inside and out, including drains;
Scuff marks on walls from the washing machine & dryer are to be cleaned off.

Deductions will be made from your bond if any of these items are not attended to.
